ok, I don't remember too much about the book, but it keeps popping back into my head, demanding that I try to find it, and reread it.
the main characters live in the same town, the 'young' lady is in her mid to late 20's, sent away from the ton because of some scandal (broken engagement or something) years before, and sort of forgotten about, the family member she lived with had died and this brought her to the attention of the lord (don't remember rank, except that it was very prestigious), and shortly there after they married, and he took her to town and she was quickly re-embraced by her family as an acceptable chaperon and some one to look towards for guidance, though she'd not changed at all, she'd just gotten merried
