could anyone possibly help me find 2 historical romance novels I read and can't remember the name of the tile or author

1. The first novel is about an orphan girl with red hair and green eyes- when it starts she is thrown out of a tavern where she went to get work- i think her name is cassandra- she leaves the orphanage behind and is run over by some handsome guy in a carriage he takes her to his estate and ends up hiring her, he falls in love with her, gives her a make over and introduces her into society. She turns out to be the daughter of a wealthy french man who has been looking for her throughout the novel and in the end he finds her and they stay happy!

2. The second novel is about a woman who works at some sort of orphanage or boarding school I believe she's a teacher- she believes that the main guy is a bad guy who is hurting a child and she gets herself hired to work in the house so she can run away with the child- its something like this- The guy's sister died and he feels guilty about it and he acts cold and distant wth his other family members because of this but he warms up to the girl who stays as a nanny at the house. she also ends up getting a make over- in the end it turns out that the guy's closest friend is bad and he tries to kill the girl as revenge to hurt the main guy because he was in love with the main guy's sister who died- he was the twin brother of the guy the sister ran away with when she died. in the end the main characters get married and stay together.

Do any of these ring a bell? please help!

The first story sounds like it could be Jane Feather's, "The Emerald Swan".
